Reject Fast Track And The Trans-Pacific Partnership
The so-called Trans-Pacific Partnership mostly NOT a trade agreement. What it is, instead, is a multi-national corporate coup, claiming the outrageous prerogative to sue we the people for damages if we dare to pass laws that get in the way of, get this, their "anticipated profits", and not in any American court mind you, but in a foreign tribunal populated by the corporate lobbyist themselves.
How do we know this, since the text of the agreement itself is top secret? We need to say that again, TOP SECRET. It's only because those sections have been leaked, by people they are aggressively trying to put in prison right now for doing so.
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives betrayed the American people, by passing so-called "Fast Track" for all of this, by a vote of 218-208. For a hundred pages it purports to provide various protections. But none of that worthless window dressing is actually binding at all. All that matters is that Fast Track forbids any subsequent filibuster, or any even any amendments by Congress. In short, no matter what BAD deal this president, or a subsequent president may make, and make no mistake, as far as they are concerned this deal is done and final, there is NOTHING meaningful that could be done to stop it, and the right wing knows this perfectly well.
We got an email from Nancy Pelosi on Friday talking about how the "House Republicans once again chose to Fast Track the trade agreement." Oh really? And what about the 28 so-called Democrats who voted to pass this monstrosity, including, including the current CHAIR of the DNC. Are they all Republicans now too? Or are we just finding that out?
The right wing is crowing, about how much their billionaire funded PACS love this deal. But if you talk to any member of Congress who will be honest with you, they will tell you that their emails, faxes and phone calls from the American People are running massively against this. There are 218 members of the House of Representatives right now who must not be re-elected under any circumstances. They must be primaried, or straight up voted, out of office.
