Terrible violent acts continue to occur in this country because our freedom is just too free. Please help to regulate gun possession so those who shouldn't have them can't get them.

We need to demand background checks at any event (particularly gun shows), sales, store that sells guns to the public. Too many children are dying by allowing guns to fall into the wrong hands. We don't need to add to the war death toll domestically. Please pass comprehensive gun laws to protect the innocent and our youth from untimely death.

Please pass this. We need to end needless deaths by illegal guns and gun owners.
Thank you.

Prohibit ownership of automatic and semiautomatic weapons, increase the rigor of the background check before ANY private citizen may purchase firearms.

We need industries to locate in our country. No one comes here because over 10,000 Americans a year die of bullet wounds. Pass stronger federal gun regulation now.

I'll tell you what, let's reserect Adolph Hitler and give him the "Right" to purchase an AK-47 and ALL the ammo he wants, that'll show those gun regulators a thing or two.

We need stronger gun regulations which primarily include the inability to buy semi-automatic and automatic weapons. Why are you so afraid of the NRA?... they are thugs. Get some courage ... please.

The fact that more American lives are lost every year (32,000) through gun violence IN OUR OWN COUNTRY than through our military operations throughout the world is outrageous, and makes our country one of the most dangerous places to live as compared to all other developed countries. We should be ashamed, and our citizens should be outraged that our politicans care more about keeping their jobs than protecting our citizens. Take away the power of the gun lobby by appealing to the individual members of the NRA, the hunters, who know the difference between the sport of hunting and those who use assault weapons. Find a better way to get the facts out to NRA members so they don't swallow the NRA line hook, line, and sinker.

The Iraq war is the least of our worries. Our society is crumbling from within and it is time for our leaders to recognize this fact and to eradicate guns from out streets.

First I would like to thank you for all the hard work you and your support system have been doing.

I see that a lot of your work has to do with PEACE......non violence. I see that violence is prolific wether gun control is the issue, bloody war, domestic violence, immigration vigilantism, or oppression of migrant evacuees due to climate change. I also know the gun lobby is bigger then the oil and so is the pharmaceutical lobby , which carries the patten on gun powder....lots of work.

In short I think we need not only gun control for human killing guns (guns that can shot 170 rounds in 9 minutes), smart guns, bullets with serial numbers, but a whole new Department of PEACE to complement the Department of Defence. And it is my understanding that bill HR 808 will do just that.

So I ask you to vote for HR 808 for a Department of Peace and what ever bills are introduced for gun control. Vote against funding the war in Iraq and do something about the manslaughter against endangered late term mothers.

I am appalled to hear people from the Pentagon and Department of Defence referring to the Iraq front line mortal combat as the theater. Language that discounts real violence as thought it were a game or a play of the stage becomes a language to tolerate violence and therefore we need a Department of PEACE because we can not talk peace, nor think peace. The Amish do it...Peace, why can't we?

your fellow American,
Sara

Every day they try to fill us with fear. "The terrorists are coming over here to get us," they say. And why WOULDN'T the terrorists want to come to Virginia, for example? Why they've got some of the most lax gun laws anywhere, where even a deranged non-citizen can freely buy a high-powered assault weapon. And its not just people from overseas, criminals from all over the eastern seaboard come to Virginia in particular to buy their guns, so they can go commit crimes in other states.

The blood had not even dried on the classroom floors of Virginia Tech before the NRA launched its own offensive, in the media and in email blasts, to argue that what we really need to do is turn all our teachers into pistol packing sheriffs, and our colleges into something out of the wild west. There are only two categories of people who oppose any kind of gun regulation, lobbyists for the gun manufactures themselves, and people with personal Rambo fantasies. And the latter are possibly the LAST people who should be armed with deadly force.

The fact is that for every private citizen with the skill and JUDGEMENT to effectively intervene against someone else shooting a gun, there are many more Rambos in their own mind who would end up getting even more people killed including themselves. For every gun in a home used for successful defense against an attacker, there are many, many more used in suicides, or killing by accident, or end up stolen. Those are the statistics and they don't lie. You remember Marvin Gaye, don't you? He was killed in a family argument by his own father with a gun he bought for his father's protection.

We need to keep those proliferating fire arms under contril through legisaltion.

Guns don't kill people, bullets do! Why not ban bullets too?!

I think that the Virginia school shootings is a sign that we need stronger gun control laws and for all schools, colleges, and universities to have better training and preparedness for dealing with incidents like these. This shows that domestic terrorism is still a large problem in this country. Our schools need to have better mechanisms in place to identify and deal with potential shooters before they go off. The Virginia shooter had a long history of violent behavior that set off warning bells, but nothing was done. It was against federal laws for a mentally ill individual to get the guns, but Virginia laws were so laxidasical that he got the guns. This needs to be corrected. This incident is one of those that would truly enbolden terrorists, not hte crap that Republicans spout off about when anyone calls for a rational war policy.

Don'y be intimidated by, or beholden to the gun lobby. Support updated and progressive gum laws. We're behind the rest of the industrialized nations of the world.

How many deaths will it take till we know that too many people have died, the answer my friend is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind...these words are just as poignant now as they were, bk during the Viet Nam war!!! PLEASE BRING OUR TROUPS HOME, NOT NEXT YEAR, BUT NOW!!!

Let's get real about the fact that guns are too available. An arms race of this type is a problem. Criminals steal guns and people get angry. Having guns readily available is what allows people to commit crimes of passion and carry out planned vendettas.

It's way past time to the NRA that automatic assault weapons are not protected by the 2nd Amendment. Our country is bleeding from this erroroneous judgment.

We must be able to protect ourselves. There are not enough police to do it. The fact is true, if you take guns away from citizens only the criminals will have guns. The criminal element and the crazies in our society will get guns or some other weapon. Look at what has happened in Australia! We do NOT want to end up in the same way.More gun control is not the only answer. Our children are schooled in violence by games, movies, etc. They imitate what they see. People with mental tendencies such as the V. T. killer should be handled in such a way to prevent massacre
We must remember we are at war and war can come to us at any moment.

I do believe that lax gun laws will be a threat to our children in schools until legistators say "Enough is enough" Do we have to wait for those who make our laws to lose a family member in a shooting? I also believe that the NRA can give a little, at least, without fear of losing their guns. My father was a hunter, but he would never have tolerated what is going on about guns today. Thanks so much for listening.

I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or her campaign.

I heard recently that 39 people were killed by guns in all of Canada last year. More than that have been killed in Boston alone since January 1st. I'm sure their were probably a good amount of stabbings, etc... but it seems to me, removing guns from the picture can not only improve everyone's chances of not getting shot but also perhaps give us all a better chance at living. Doesn't make sense that any crazy guy can walk into a store and walk right out again with an automatic weapon and big full clips. Lets get a grip on guns, too many have died needlessly.

I beleive Virginia Tech was another wake up call. What is the difference between foreign suicide bombers and suicide shooters among our citizenry? People with mental health problems over 2 Million Americans do not need guns.
