Tell Hastert To Resign

This is just one more example of how the corrupt rule. Since the republicans took the house and senate things have gone down the tube. Look at the facts, they have no shame. They spent millions on bad mouthing Clinton and now they won't even talk about the hypocracy of their own party. They are cowards. "To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men." Stop being cowards and do the right thing. Justice is a terrible thing to waste. Give us justice for a change.

Foley had to go and so does Hastert. He knows that what he and the rest of the party did was wrong and he just is looking out for himself and not the people who he should have been looking out for, the pages. They deserve better from their government and so do we. Get hastert out of office and the sooner the better.

That Hastert and so many of his colleagues conspired to protect Foley's perverse behavior from public scrutiny is just another IN OUR FACES example of this administration's own agenda and its disinterest in protecting the welfare of even American youth, truth, or honor. And, they like to claim that they are the moral, family values group. I believe that Hastert and others who condoned by silence Foley's possibly criminal behavior should be fired and even perhaps criminally investigated for their silent roles of protecting a child predator.

Dennis Hastert knew about this for some time, and did nothing. HE HAS TO GO IMMEDIATELY!!!

Your morals are now a thing of the past Mr. Hastert, no one will ever look at you again as someone they can trust.

Hastert's decision to jeopardize the welfare of the Capitol Hill pages in order to protect "one of his own" is indefensible. He is not fit to remain Speaker.

I believe that Hastert should go, because he tried to hide the fact that a congressman was trying to persuade young men into considering being sexual with him--a huge danger to these young men.

You have lost your moral credibility as a leader. It's time for you to step back and let someone else be Speaker.

It is a disgrace that our "leaders" have chosen to place their political ambitions over the safety and well being of minor children. It has obviously been known for years that Congressman Foley was involved in inappropriate behavior with regards to the Congressional Pages. For the good of our country, we must send a message. Dennis Hastert must resign immediately.

How can we protect ourselves from predators when they are governing us?!?!

Good grief! Even the Moonie paper, the Washington Times wants him to resign. Sounds like a growing consensus to me!

Dear Senators Kennedy and Kerry and Congressman McGovern:
It's time for House leader Dennis Hastert to resign. He
has set a poor set of values among our young and vibrant
pages at the White House a dispicable act from a Congressman who has already resigned his seat. Where
House Leader Hastert chose to ignore advice from his
own staff to censure or ask Mr Foley to resign his seat
he shows a lack of respect of behavior appropriate to
any person male or female that works in the halls of
Congress as a page or in any other capacity.
His moral behavior is also disgusting to have condoned
Mr Foley's actions for a long time with no regards to
the sensitivity of the young pages who were put at risk
and abused for Mr. Foley's pleasure.
It's time for Mr Hastert to resign!!!!!
Sincerely,
Joseph and Judith Wisboro

Sweeping the Foley situation under the rug is an example of incredible malfeasance and Mr. Hastert should resign immediately after apologizing most profusely. It's almost like he's a Catholic bishop allowing a known child molester priest to continue his 'preying'.

There are terrible rumors about Hastert going around just like there were about Foley only worse. Flush the toilet on Hastert. He's a dimwitted thug who should not be allowed around children.

PLEASE, HOUSE SPEAKER MUST BE FORCED TO RESIGN OVER THE FOLEY SCANDAL....TAXPAYERS SHOULD NOT HAVE
REPRESENTATIVES WHO WOULD RATHER HIDE SUCH ABUSIVE AND CRIMINAL ACTIVITY FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES!! THE REPUBLICANS AND THEIR LEADERSHIP ARE CORRUPT AND DISGRACEFUL - I'M FED UP PAYING THE SALARIES FOR THESE PEOPLE TO DISHONOR OUR NATION AND DEMOCRACY!!!

Mr. Dennis Hastert, I think that you should resign from the U S Congress. Your action (or inaction) is an embarrassment to good goverment and to common decency, Lyell Thompson

Frankly, I understood that Mr.Hastert initially ignored the issue because at the time he was more interested in just ascertaining that this wouldn't impede finances. The fact that he never returned to the issue to investigate, or asked that it be brought up later if needed, just shows he is no different than the Catholic Bishops that ignored the victims.
The fact that Mr Hastert is now investigating 'who knew what, when' is simply an act of atonement, not a true show of integrity - that would have happened the first time he heard and would have trumped any financial considerations.

As a mother of a 16-year-old son, I am appalled at the hypocricy of the Republican leadership. If this had been a problem of Democratic congresspeople, the calls for resignation would be deafening! Rep. Hastert has failed to exercise oversight, his responsibility to the employees under his supervision, if not worse. He should do the right thing now, and step aside.

Mr. Hassert, please resign now. I don't believe that you did not know for some time(maybe a couple years). You do not come across as being truthful but as lying. Give it up now before more information comes out that will prove you knew. I have no time for liars and especially in your high positon. You should have seen to our youngsters at all costs and we would have cared about you then. NOw we want you OUT!

Hastert needs to resign! He is trying to cover his own butt and doesn't care about the pages. This is typical of the conservatives. They all do it!!!!

I have waited for the dust to settle before writing on "foleygate" to see a variety of reports and assessmments of the people and events involved. Unfortunately, the situation grows worse with time: the poor judgment, failure to follow through and general lack of concern for youth and good governance are ever more clearly exposed. Mr. Hastert's protestations ring hollowin contrast to reports from aides and other legislators. His disgrace ought to prompt his resignation. Instead, he has chosen to join such disreputable "non-resigners" as Mrs. Gingrich, Delay, Ney, Abramoff, et al. And we know what has and continues to happen in these cases...

I am not sure which is worst scenario: that Hastert covered up Mark Foley's illegal and immoral actions or that the Speaker of the House has so little control over his party he has no clue what his fellow Republicans are doing.

the law applies to all who break it and all who attempt to subvert it. he should not only be forced to resign, he should be prosecuted for hiding a crime.
