We continue to stoop to new lows in congressional behavior. When and how will this foolishness stop?

Kind of reminds one of the Arch Diocese's approach, doesn't it. Maybe they took a page from the Army's "Don't ask, don't tell!" policy.

The cover up by Republicans of the actions of Mark Foley is disgraceful. Those knowing of his actions put our children at risk and deserve to be investigated and made to resign. This goes beyond political parties, it goes to the moral chacter of my legislators. I ask that you take action immediately, not after elections. You should be serving your constituents and not campaigning. This needs to be addressed now.

Since my daughter was the victim of a sexual assault by an adult male just last month I will be a voice for all innocent children! Pedophiles need to pay as their victims are forced to for the rest of their lives! Hopefully someday the punishments will reflect the heinous crime! When a pedophile can walk free or very little time there is something wrong with our laws! We need to take a stand to protect our innocent children of our country and the world! Remember they are our FUTURE! And never say it could not happen to you...maybe it already has or will!

Sincerely,
Mary Elizabeth Meade Stephenson

House Leadership's lack of action against Foley's dangerous pursuit of young students demands an investigation. The apparent coverup at the expense of children is inexcusable and hypocritical.

It's high time that 'what's right' is the standard for what should be done than 'the almighty dollar' or 'power'. Not just because of this, I find it very hard to look at anyone who's a Republican and wonder just what abomination they've condoned or committed. I'm sure this will pass but there are just so many ethically 'wrong' things the Republicans have done lately.

Mark Foley's Press Secretary said it was only a partisan attack. Mark Foley claimed the email was innocent. Then ABC News confronted Foley with explicit sexual messages he sent to House Pages. A few hours later, Mark Foley resigned from Congress in disgrace.

America then learned the Page who got the disgusting email from Foley reported it to the Republican Leadership months before - but they did absolutely nothing about it. In fact, Speaker Of The House Dennis Hastert not only ignored the danger posed by Foley, they made sure news of his crimes did not leak out.

All of which means the Republican Leadership of Congress helped put other Pages at risk from this known Pedophile.

So you've just got to ask: if Republicans are willing to sacrifice children for the sake of political gain, how can we as Americans ever trust them?

But even more importantly, if the Republican leadership is unwilling to do anything about this ugly situation - how can citizens, make damned sure it never happens again?

We the people demand that Representative Pelosi's investigation go forward. Because if it doesn't, the disgusting acts of Mark Foley and his ilk will continue to be swept under the rug!

It's not a Democratic or Republican issue. It's a matter of right or wrong. It's about making sure we protect our children. No one, Republican or Democrat, can afford to stand by while outrages like this go on!

PROTECT OUR CHILDREN .... NOT OUR POLITICIANS.

We need to have an investigation in the House of the scandal connecting Foley with letters to House pages, suggesting a wish for sexual involvement. Members of the House of Representatives knew about these letters, and did nothing to prevent them.

THE REASON THAT FOLEY WAS ALLOWED TO DO WHAT HE DID WAS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO LOSE THAT SEAT. NEVER MIND THAT HE WAS TROLLING FOR CHILDREN. THATS OKAY BECAUSE WE WILL COVER IT UP. NOW THEY ARE CAUGHT AND THEY WILL DO DAMAGE CONTROL. IT IS INSANE THE WAY THAT THIS HAS BEEN HANDLED.

The Ice Weasels think they can blame this on alcoholism and homosexuality, neither of which have anything to do with pedophilia. Randi Rhodes, who knew Foley, during her Florida radio days, doesn't remember him as a drinker...hmmmm.
Why isn't this man behind bars? Why isn't he under the jail?
Nauseating.

The Republican Party has repeatedly campaigned on morality and ethics. Now is the time to prove their claims.

Republicans were very aware of Mr. Foley's exploits, yet they stood by thinking that it would never see the light of day. The old saying 'what goes around comes around' still applies!
This is not a two-party cover-up! The blame lies solely on the shoulders of those Republicans who were informed of Mr. Foley's unethical immoral behaviors.
Let's be clear about this -- Republicans are now trying to label homosexuals as pedophiles! I suggest they check with psychologists, researchers, physicians, and members of clergies around the world who happen to be gay. They will testify that being gay is not related to being a pedophile. Pedophiles prey on children.
Although I am not gay, I have friends who are, and they would no more prey on children than you or I!
Pedophiles stalk and harm children; they are not interested in consensual adult relationships!
Mr. Foley cannot label himself gay because he sought out young boys! That is a lie, and every Republican who stands by such excuses should resign immediately!
The public is sickened by the constant unethical and immoral behaviors of Republican members of Congress, the Senate, and within the executive branch.
Declaring an unethical war against Iraq is the same as mass murder, and is punishable by death in many states. Taking bribes from the celebrated lobbyist is nothing short of illicit activity requiring stiff sentencing! Stalking young boys requires stiff legal punishment.

It is very simple, Foley himself was a strong proponent against on-line predetors and pediphiles, just hold him up to his own law he created.

What foresight the man had.

Faluire to prosecute him will only throw a glaring spotlight at the Government's hypocrarcy.

Please clean up the unethical practicies that are happening in the House.

Sen. Foley is disgusting, not because he is gay, but he is just like all Republicans-Hypocrites. Spending the taxpayers money and using the Internet as a public display of his preference for young boys. Supposedly the Christian right backs people like him. maybe they aren't Christians either.

The hypocracy demonstrated by Foley as Chairman of a congressional committee tasked to protect kids contrasted with his sexual overtures to young pages is over the top. Has the Congress no guts any more? McCarthyism has returned with a Republican vengeance. Have you no shame? Initiate a formal investigation and get rid of all those charged with protecting congressional pages. OUTrageous!

The body of the fish rots from the head down and the House GOP is rotting from Hastert down. It's time for him to be driven from office and an "ethical" Ethics Committee to be formed and have an outside investigation of the despicable behavior of Foley which has been known for years.

The inaction of the republicans in this manner clearly demonstrates just how little they care about the wellbeing of young people.

The Foley scandal is more than just about one man. It is about political leaders who let it continue and who did everything to keep it quiet. That is moral corruption at its worse.

For a party that tries to claim it is God's Own Party, it is shocking that protecting their political power is more important than protecting Congressional pages from sexual predators. So much for any alleged claim to "family" values or any claim to "morallity".

Of course this is not surprisng, people who talk about God, morallity, and relgion all the time are rarely the ones that are practicing it. People who practice those things don't make a lot of noise about it. Those, making all the noise, are usually trying to distaract you from what they really are doing.

I want to see an investigation on the people who kept this quiet instead of excuses and blaming others. Let see the Republican Party clean up its act by getting rid of such corrupt people. Republicans control the government. It is time for them to take responsibility for the moral mess they have allowed to happen on their watch.

I am so tired of the lies and coverups of this administation. It has just brought down the moral integrity of this country! The message seems to be: Do whatever you damn well please and don't care who gets hurt in the process. Then justify it, so you can live with it.

Protect our Children. Foley MUST be investigated and all who failed to protect our young people. Please have a formal investigation with prosecution of all who aided and abetted. The speaker of the house cannot be spared in these proceedings.

Mark Foley resigned as a result of the page scandal, but how do we know that more pages were not harmed by this lascivious predater? Support Representative Pelosi's call for an investigation.

Mark Foley deserves the same kind of treatment he gave Bill Clinton. Gone to rehab, what if all perverts got the same treatment?

The GOP has been claiming to be the "values" party and pretending to be morally upright when they, and I say they, because I am certain everyone knew about Foley, have allowed this to continue right under all of our noses. You, at least, should not be hypocritical about this, or, are you going to continue to only care about remaining in power and grubbing for money?
