The hours at the Worcester MA election commission are so short (8:45 - 4:15) that I never made the 3 block walk there before my trip to MD and PA. Now I'm more motivated to help at the polls in PA (Murtha's district) where the races (e.g. Santorum) may be closer.

This is not for the newspapers. It is for your group. I went to early voting today and they had no record of my voter registration at all. I had to vote on a provisional ballot.

There are already hearing reports of secret purging of the Democratic voter rolls in various states, just the way we know for a FACT things like this happened in the last couple elections. Some to these rumors might not be true, but at least some assuredly are. The problem is, if we wait until election day to move proactively to head off such things it will be that much harder to reverse them. The question is, what can we DO to prevent such wrongdoing BEFORE we have all the evidence. Mobilize to act now.

The answer is to get AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE to early vote, to test the integrity of our voting system.

If there are purging issues revealed in particular states, everyone needs to report it - to the media, to the Secretary of State, to the Governmor's office.

suppression schemes which have employed underallocation of voting machines, shortages of provisional ballots, polls that aren't open on time, and on and on.

We CANNOT wait until election day and cross our fingers that there will not be even more dirty tricks than last time. The recent primary elections in places like Maryland have already demonstrated that electoral train wrecks are more likely than not in some jurisdictions. But if we early vote in massive numbers we can ameliorate most of the problems we know we can expect. It is easier in all cases, you will wait LESS time in line, and you can be sure you at least had a chance to vote. This country can not afford to become a victim to a repeat of other vote suppression schemes which have employed underallocation of voting machines, shortages of provisional ballots, polls that aren't open on time, and on and on.

In this devious and dangerous climate it is nuts to wait until election day on the HOPE that all will go well, when every indicator is that certain partisan secretaries of state have it planned to not go well.

I have a problem with an organization that doesn't provide an easy wat to contact by phone or email. I may have much to tell you but am limited to this little box. In fact, I do have much to tell you. I do not have any money to send you but I do have knowledge that you should investigate to the fullest since it is the knowledge that is transforming the world right now. Look at www.uspeacegovernment.org, www.permanentpeace.org, www.victorybeforewar.org, www.invincibleamerica.org, www.alltm.org, www.tesp.org, www.mum.edu, www.mou.org. China has decided to have this knowledge taught to all its school children. There is a broadcast about this on mou.org. A movie is being made about what you will discover on the websites and I could send you an article about it but not in this box.

I hope this Peace team can accomplish what honest people have tried to do since time began, and that is find an HONEST MAN. If one exists I hope they are on the righteous side of reality and bring two of each honest expatriate they find, because we are definitely on the sinking ship with present leadership.

Where is your education about absentee ballots, provisional Affadavit and Emergency ballots, ARM us with them before Election Day to give voters purged, machines malfunctioning, etc. for every possible irregularity, not just to REPORT them. You sound like part of the problem!

I am greatly concerned about the integrity of our voting system.Has congress gotten anywhere in passing any kind of laws or regualtions to make sure the integrity of the vote is there like it wasn't during the elections of 2000 and 2004 as well as probably 2002,all the years (p)resident Bush has been in office?
The answer is "no" and will remain it as long as we falseley select republicans to occupy our congress and flush our country in the toilet.
I am working on a campaign that is close and tightly watched-to replace Senator Lincoln Chafee with his opponent Sheldon Whitehouse.
In 2000 former vice president Al Gore had the lead over foemer Texas govenor and now resident dubya. The supreme court balked and allowed dubya to win the residency. Now with 2 new selected conservative activist judges chosen by Bush and stamped by congress, our values are even in greater peril including the right to vote.
The answer is "what can be done about this" knowing that the manufacturer of voting machines(Diebolt)are influenced by big money and rank among one of Bush's biggest distributors.Bush will head comitees to investigate voting fraud only with his biggest friends and supporters.
We need students to carpool friends to appropriate election offices.
We need good neighbors to be neighborly and carpool their elderly or handicapped neighbors to voting polls and assist them in voting if necessary.
Of course we need to get as many people as possible to vote as early as possible and we need people of integrity to make sure people who vote are doing so the right way and the election is being conducted fairly.
We probably can only do so much to protect voter fraud, but all that can be done must be.
Most importantly we must be commited to making sure our vote is cast this November 7th because it is vital to our democracy.

I WAS JUST MADE AWARE FROM A POLITICAL PHONE CALL BY STEVE YOUNG'S OFFICE THAT ANYONE VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT THIS YEAR AND MAILING IT IN NEEDS TO PUT ON EXTRA POSTAGE. HAD I NOT HAVE GOTTEN THIS PHONE MESSAGE, I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN AND MY BALLOT WOULD HAVE BEEN RETURNED TO ME FOR INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE. WHY ISN'T THIS BEING BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION TO ALL OF US WHO CHOOSE ABSENTEE OVER THE FRAUDULENT VOTING MACHINES THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND DON'T YOU THINK THAT THIS MESSAGE NEEDS TO GO OUT STATE WIDE AND JUST NOT TO THE DISTRICT THAT STEVE YOUNG IS RUNNING IN? DO YOU REALLY WANT VOTES THAT ARE BEING CAST FOR WHO YOU ARE ELECTING NEVER BEING RECIEVED BECAUSE NO ONE WARNED MOST OF THE VOTERS IN CALIFORNIA WHO VOTE ABSENTEE THAT ADDITIONAL POSTAGE IS NECESSARY OR IT WON'T REACH THE "REGISTRAR OF VOTERS?" I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO START REACHING ALL VOTERS REGARDING THIS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT ISSUE AT HAND!

So I have my receipt and no problems

We need legitimate elections, and we need people to feel confident enough in those elections that they don't hesitate to go vote.

On my Hillsoborough County, Florida absentee ballot, every single name that appears first for each race is the Republican candidate -- regardless of who should be first alphabetically or who is the incumbent. Strictly Republicans in all races are listed first, period.

We need student groups to organize their campuses to carpool their friends to the appropriate election offices.

We need community activists to carpool as many of their neighbors as possible to vote NOW, and not face possibly longer lines on election day itself.
Especially if we are hoping for a large turnout, we must do these things to protect our vote.

Can anyone tell me what has been done by our representatives, State Agencies and/or local authorities to reprogram/repair or throw out the defective voting machines/computers??? Does everybody think in both of the last t w o elections there have only been "some isolated cases, ... same as i.e. the Abu-Graive tortures" ??? Nobody in the media or government seems to realize that the incorrect voter results have consistently been in favor of the GOP(!!!) thanks to the 'defective' Dieboldt machines? I have only heard one interview on MSNBC that addresses this most important election issue, and the interviewed Senator gave a hopeless picture!... We can vote all we want and the results get 'rigged' anyway - so all progressive efforts and all our voting would be in vain. I know people who for this reason want to "throw in the towel". Good luck to us voters anyway!
In my election station, we do paper ballots that get fed into a machine box.

Just a reminder - not much we can do about this problem - but hope you have all received and returned your absentee ballot by now. If not, you may still be able to use the so called Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot. See fvap.gov website for the form - or let me know if you have questions.

There is information going around that if we don't fold our ballot exactly the same way it came to us, our votes will be voided, thrown in the round file by the neo-cons who run the states' electoral system.

We already know that the electronic voting machines have been pre-set to "flip" up to one-third of all votes from Democrat to Republican. That's not even a question. Six dozen tests, and ten dozen computer programmers, have certified that the electronic voting machines (bought from, and "serviced" by, major Bush-Cheney campaign donors Diebold and ES and S -- surprise, surprise!) have "proprietary" code that can be hacked by any insider.

However, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO A PAPER BALLOT. In fact, you can get a paper ballot RIGHT NOW at any government office.

Avoid the rush. Grab a ballot NOW, and take your time with it, and make sure your vote is counted.

I submitted an absentee ballot this year as I had in the past presidential election. After photocopying my ballot, I sent it in, certified mail, return receipt requested, so that I would have a "paper trail" copy, since I didn't, and still don't, trust the Jeb Bush/Florida/Republican election process' fairness. After continually tracing, via the Certified Mail receipt number, whether the ballot had been retrieved by the election officials, and continually coming up with the notation, even on election day itself, that it had not been so retrieved, after consulting with an attorney for the Democratic Party, I went to my voting station, taking the relevant documents with me to show to the pollwatchers that my absentee ballot had not been retrieved, and was informed that, since there was no record of such retrieval, I could vote via provisional ballot that would, if the absentee ballot had indeed subsubsequently been retrieved, would be considered void and the absentee ballot would rule. Distrustful of the process, I obtained a written, signed statement by the pollwatcher in charge that he had consulted the proper authority via computer, ascertained that the absentee ballot had not been retrieved and that I could vote provisionally. The net result of that was that I was one of four Florida voters accused of the felony of having voted twice. My name was broadcast on television, printed in the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post, along with the other three "miscreants," all of whom, to my knowledge turned out to be innocent, and was threatened, as were they, with District Attorney felony charge investigations. I was forced to obtain legal advice and presented the relevant documents, complete with the pollwatchers signed statement that a provisional ballot was appropriate and that either one or the other, but not both, would be counted. All this engendered an enormous amount of anxiety and emotional distress for my husband and myself. This, however, did not dissuade me from again voting via absentee ballot, and again sending the documents out, as I did yesterday, via certified mail, return receipt requested, to make sure that the ballot had been retrieved and my vote consequently counted properly. If you would like to follow up on this story, please contact me at the e-mail address cited. I consider the right to have the vote counted properly the most basic and fundamental requisite in the running of a decent, and truly democratic, form of government. I don't trust the Diabold machines, nor any other, and will continue to vote via absentee ballot, certified mail, return receipt requested so that I can ascertain that my vote has been retrieved and, therefore, assumedly, properly counted, in the future until voting machines distribute a verifiable paper trail just as any transaction issues a receipt/paper trail, but which, for some strange and illusory reason, seems beyond the ability of Dieabold and other voting machine operators to be able to produce.

Thank you.

Lorraine Stone

The purging of Democrat voters is criminal at least. Republicans show no morals ethics or democracy. This should be the beginning of the end of that dispicable party.
