Even those with their heads stuck in the sand must be noticing by now that the sand itself is getting hotter.

As reported in the Washington Post, the most respected climate scientist on the planet just published a major new paper, with 16 collaborators of similar stature, warning that we may well be on the brink of runaway ice cap melting.

Many had believed we could get away with a couple more degrees of overall global temperature warming. But this new study tracks the dramatic changes already taking place, and makes continued dismissal of the dire threat to our civilization beyond reckless and ignorant.

We cannot just pick up and move trillions of dollars of coastal infrastructure, not to mention devastating disruption of weather in food growing areas. For those who say we cannot afford to do anything about it now ... we say we can't afford not to.

Congress must take strong action for international cooperation to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, which recently shot past 400 parts per million (and still accelerating), back down to 350 parts per million.
