Abolish The Filibuster Now

This is it.

The dysfunction in the Senate has become so intolerable that the Democrats in the Senate have absolutely no choice but to finally do something about it. By abusing the filibuster to refuse to consider ANY nominees, regardless of their qualifications, for a host of now crippled government agencies, the Republicans have greatly overplayed their hand.

The filibuster is nothing but a procedural dodge that in fact came into existence by accident and mistake. The only arguable justification for it is to allow the minority party to have their full say in debate. But AFTER they have their say, a vote must actually be allowed.

But that is not what the Republicans are doing. They are refusing to talk at all. As a first and absolutely mandatory step, the filibuster must be abolished for executive agency appointments, otherwise no president can even govern in the face of obdurate minority obstructionism as we are currently experiencing.

And if the Republicans are still determined to block judicial appointments in the same way, the filibuster must be also abolished there as well.
