The election of a new president was supposed to be an opportunity to reverse and correct the terrible abuses of the Cheney/Bush regime, exemplified by their total disregard of international law condemning torture and wars of territorial aggression. And yet, still Congress has done nothing to hold responsible those who enabled and committed torture and these other war crimes, nor have they done anything to reclaim the constitutional powers usurped.
This special action page will add your name to a petition going to each of your individual members of Congress, so they can see how many of their OWN constituents are calling for meaningful action.
Unless we seize this opportunity to soundly repudiate the official torture and unilateral war making policies of the previous 8 years, there is nothing to stop another self-styled "decider" in the future from resurrecting those same abuses, or even exceeding them.
